Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA): Mozambique Power Plants
SWMOZ was indicated in March 2013 by JSPL Mozambique to prepare a full ESIA for the Power Plant Project in Tete. Once the activities plan was concluded and approved by JINDAL INVESTIMENTOS S.A., SWMOZ undertook a census survey and socioeconomic baseline study. The flora and fauna specialists also carried out detailed studies on project area and communities within the mining area.The full ESIA was comprised of:
- • Compilation and co-ordination of local ESIA team
- • Scoping for ESIA, including gathering and review of all existing data, site visit, initial consultation and meetings with government agencies
- • Co-ordination of technical baseline studies ecology and socioeconomic
- • Assessment of potential environmental and social impacts
- • Framework Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
- • Framework Social Management Plan (SMP)
- • Preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Statement, including framework EMP and SMP
